Dear Highlanders,
I am honored and grateful for the opportunity to lead Invictus. I first viewed the property of Invictus just over two years ago. I was impressed and inspired by the incredible opportunity of classical education for the community of Helotes and NW San Antonio. The faculty and families have embraced the challenge of opening a new school and celebrated the joy and accomplishments that followed. We have had an incredible inaugural year, and I’m excited to apply my talents and to allow continuity for our campus and community as the new Headmaster of Invictus.
Over the past eight years, I have worked alongside several Great Hearts headmasters who have provided me with formative experiences in the classical model of education and the day-to-day operations of a school. Their guidance through the years has given me a unique perspective on the role of Headmaster and the dedication it takes to build a strong school culture devoted to the pursuit of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty.
If you have attended Information Nights or Kindergarten Orientation, you have heard of my previous roles within the Great Hearts Monte Vista community for six years. My experience implementing curriculum, coaching teachers, and collaborating with faculty and student support teams have equipped me with the experience necessary to promote students’ academic learning and growth in virtue.
As we move into the 2023-2024 school year, I look forward to continuing the work of building a strong campus culture and more opportunities for connection within the Invictus and Helotes communities.
Please look for communications throughout the summer as we share updates on enrollment, improved security construction, and community events.
We are looking forward to the new school year!
Go Highlanders!
Leah Hammonds
